It's 10:45 pm in Mannheim, Germany the day before while it is 6:45 am in Canberra the day after,,,,it literally spins me out! However - to business.
This wonderful expedition we are on is not called the Whirl for nothing. Yesterday we crossed over 4 countries, Britain, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Our tour guide is passionate about history, and it is fascinating to glimpse places that I have read about and known all my life but never really envisaged seeing myself. Anne Frank's house on the banks of a canal in Amsterdam - Westminster Abbey - churches in the Ruhr Valley in Bavaria where Martin Luther wrote his Theses that formed the basis of the Reformation - Ancient windmills in Amsterdam and locks on the Rhine River.
We travel with a merry band of 49 people. We are lulled by stories and the history of the places we speed by, and then we are set down in a location with clear instructions on when to meet up again. We scatter as soon as we get out of the coach, and although I now have several hundred photos, I haven't worked out how to attach them to this blog....that will happen later when I get more than a few minutes to try to workout how to size and set them on the page. However, believe me - we have seen some beautiful, stunning things, all bathed in golden sunshine which everyone assures us is unheard of in this season!
Three times today Sherab has said how glad he is he came - and we have thanked Walsa, who persevered with us while we wavered about with various excuses.
i hope to add photos soon, but for now need to get to bed ready for a 5:45 am wake up call!
